Yale Sailing on Classic Sloop--SOLD OUT

Up to five YCSF members can spend a weekend afternoon sailing the Oakland-Alameda Estuary on a 21-foot sloop. No experience necessary, two weekends planned, more can be added.

**THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT**

The first five YCSF members to sign up for a sailing opportunity on Saturday, October 21st, and five more for Saturday, October 28th, will get to go sailing on a classic 21-foot sloop. The boat is docked at the Alameda Marina in Alameda. We'll shove at 1:00 and tack up the Estuary, passing Coast Guard ships, marinas and yacht clubs, a houseboat community, a WWII shipyard, the Presidential yacht "Potomac", tugboats, Oakland's containership docks, Jack London Square and whatever ships and ferries we meet. At some point, depending on wind and tide, we come about and run back downwind, break out the tea and cookies and get back to the dock between 4:00 and 5:00.

This is an opportunity to see Oakland and Alameda from the water and spend an afternoon with fellow alums. No sailing skill is required. The owner of the boat is an experienced yachtsman; prior to attending Yale SOM he was a Merchant Marine officer. Weather on the Estuary is generally mild, though you should bring a light jacket.

There is no charge for this opportunity, though it is limited to YCSF members. Please RSVP Using the "RSVP Here" Link at the Bottom of this Page. The first five to respond for each weekend will get to go. If there is enough interest, additional weekend dates can be added.

Location:

Alameda Marina

1815 Clement Avenue

Alameda, CA 94501

Enter Gate 7, across from Schiller Street, drive to the waterfront and park. Call the captain, Jonathan Ogle, at 415-652-8949 and he will walk up the dock to take you to the boat.
