The Diffusion of Title IX Sexual Harassment Complaints

This talk examines how the use of Title IX to combat sexual harassment in colleges and universities has become increasingly popular.

Title IX is a comprehensive U.S. civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. The letter of the law has not changed since its inception in 1972, but its use has: Title IX is increasingly mobilized in response to the problem of sexual harassment, including assault, on college campuses.

Celene Reynolds presents research that helps illuminate this striking change with major implications for American higher education.
