Yale is among the first American universities to have a full-time coordinator of humanist life, sometimes referred to as a Humanist Chaplain.

According to a Yale Daily News survey, 44 percent of the Yale class of 2019 are atheist, agnostic, or religiously unaffiliated.  And now there is an organized community to serve them.  Students can use the Yale Humanist Community (YHC) to serve many of the purposes a theistic community might provide, including: counseling and support, a platform to think about and discuss ethical matters, a sense of meaning and wonder, a call to service, and a supportive social environment.

YHC is dedicated to supporting a diverse community of Humanists, atheists, agnostics, and the nonreligious at Yale.  YHC equally welcomes believers, seekers, and the unaffiliated. Many YHC events are open to the public, including Humanist Haven, a bi-monthly community gathering featuring a wide-array of thought-provoking speakers.

Join us for the first public talk by YHC Board Chair and Co-Founder Miles Lasater on the origin of YHC, its mission and its future. Specific time will be devoted to discussing and planning how to create a strong alumni YHC community. The talk will be followed by Q&A and light refreshment.
