From Glide Staff:

The most important thing you and your group will do is to serve as a friendly and warm presence for our clients. The work is simple, but the value is far greater! Offer a loving hand to those that need it as much as a warm meal. After your volunteer service you are invited to dine with us. In the event that you choose to dine with us, we request a donation of $2.00 per person however no volunteer will be turned away for lack of funds.

If you need to contact us for anything please find the appropriate information here: http://glide.org/page.aspx?pid=413

Glide is located at 330 Ellis at the corner of Ellis & Taylor. Directions to Glide can be found at http://www.glide.org/contactus#parking
Glide is a short walk from the Powell BART station

Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start of your volunteer service. When you arrive, you’ll be directed to the dining room. The dining room staff will show you to the lockers where a jacket and a small bag can be secured while you are serving.

The dining room staff will provide you with a time sheet upon your arrival. It is very important that you complete the time sheet at the start of your volunteer shift. Glide must document all volunteer service hours to meet our funding agreements. Lastly, please wear comfortable clothing. Each volunteer is required to wear closed-toe shoes and shirts with long or short sleeves (No tank tops please!). During your volunteer service you will also be wearing a hair net (or cap if you bring one with you), plastic apron and plastic gloves.
Dining room staff and Glide security monitors (in bright yellow jackets) will be present to answer your questions and provide safety to clients, staff and volunteers. Your presence at Glide sends a powerful message to the hungry persons who eat in our Daily Free Meals Program – it says that you care and that they are worthy of your time and energy. The diverse group of people who regularly utilize Glide’s Daily Free Meals Program include those who are homeless or near homeless, those whose lives have been impacted by the use of drugs and alcohol and/or mental illness, elders and low-income families or individuals.

We hope your experience is rewarding and that you continue to volunteer. We invite you to continue to check all our volunteer opportunities at www.glide.org to see if there are other volunteer opportunities that might be a good fit for your skills, experience and interests. If you are unable to keep your commitment or have any questions or concerns, please send an e-mail toVolTeam@glide.org or call the Volunteer Resource Program at (415) 674-6081.

Again, thank you for choosing to volunteer at Glide!
