Learn How to Form a Non-Profit Charity or a Foundation

Join us for a discussion of the basic legal considerations involved in forming a California nonprofit.

Join us for a discussion of the basic legal considerations involved in forming a California nonprofit. We'll start with an overview of the reasons to form a nonprofit and then describe a few alternatives to forming a nonprofit that may be used to achieve an individual's charitable goals. We'll then dive into the mechanics of forming a nonprofit corporation in California, including the required governing documents and various registrations. Finally, we'll discuss the process of applying for federal and state income tax exemption and some of the rules applicable to organizations exempt under Section 501(c)(3). There will be plenty of time for questions throughout and at the end of the discussion. Light refreshments will also be served.
