Saturday, May 10, 2014: the Annual Yale Day of Service

With the Day of Service less than two weeks away, we are in desperate need of volunteers at a number of Bay Area sites! Please consider bringing along some friends and joining us at the following activities:

with Association of Asian American Yale Alumni of Norcal
We have two events with the Chinatown Community Development Center: help clean historical alleyways in Chinatown not easily accessible by street cleaners and paint a decorative mural over graffiti, or discuss your career path with students and youth.

with Association of Asian American Yale Alumni of Norcal

Known as the “Ellis Island of the West,” Angel Island Immigration Station was the first stop for immigrants crossing the Pacific Ocean between 1910 and 1940. Volunteers will be working landscape maintenance (weeding, cleaning, collecting trash) to preserve this important historical site for future generations.

Help develop a “green” 28-unit town home development located in the Ocean View neighborhood of San Francisco.

SF Food Bank
fight against hunger by getting food ready to be distributed to soup kitchens, food pantries, after-school programs, and all of the other 600+ places that feed people in need for free throughout the city.

with the Yale Black Alumni Association
Beautify the Ella Hill Hutch Community Center in the Western Addition through painting, gardening, sorting donated clothes, and cleanup around the grounds.

Restore critical habitat in Marin County through helping to maintain new native plants and restore the tidal lagoon and creek at Muir Beach, home of the endangered Coho salmon, steelhead trout, and California red-legged frog.

with the Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance

Meet fellow Yalies interested in nonprofits and learn more about YANA while serving the community. Help transform Alameda Point Collaborative's supportive housing community into a beautiful and inviting landscape for residents to flourish through gardening, landscaping, and creating new gardens.
