Join a Yalie Book Club or Movie Club! (Sign up by Feb 14!)

Want to recreate the dining hall experience at Yale here in the Bay Area? We do too. Did you make a resolution to read more books or see better movies this year? Good. YCSF wants to help facilitate Yalie book clubs and movie clubs. Join by the 14th!

Have you wanted to recreate that "dining hall" experience or the fun you had in one of those wonderful small classes at Yale?  Us too.

That's why the Yale Club of San Francisco wants to help create small Yalie book clubs and movie clubs (we're thinking 8-15 people per group).

Though we are calling these "Yalie" book or movie clubs, we are not limiting participation in these clubs to Yalies.  If you have a spouse or a roommate who wants to join YOUR book or movie club -- we'd love to have to them!  Just sign up by February 14th!

If you're interested, please click here to join a YCSF Book or Movie club and provide the requested information.  We'll try to match interested folks up with others who generally live or work near each other, who want to generally meet on weekday evenings or on weekends, are interested in generally meeting monthly or quarterly, and are generally interested in the same kind of discussion topics (fiction, non-fiction, comedies, dramas, etc.).

Obviously, this will not be a perfect science, but we will try to match people up as best we can, and then facilitate the first meeting.  After that, you'll be on your own to keep it going.  If things start to flag and you need new blood to keep it going, just let us know and we'll help!

We anticipate that the book clubs and movie clubs will come up with their own ground rules at the first meeting, but we'll offer some helpful suggestions on how they can be run (for example: page limits, not reading a book that someone else has already read, rotating who gets to pick the book, etc.).  We'll also kick things off by suggesting a book or movie to discuss for the first meeting, after we help arrange for a mutually acceptable first meeting time.  We expect that folks will read the book or go watch the movie prior to the first discussion meeting.

Again, please sign up by February 14th!  Click here to join a YCSF Book or Movie club today!!
