Yale Parents: Design Contest for Kids of All Ages

Architect Mason Kirby (MArch '98) is hosting a series of free webinars to teach the basics of the 3D modeling program SketchUp (free to download) in preparation for the First Annual Kidsí Digital Design Contest (for ages 0-15, deadline September 15).

Hey parents: As a parent I know how difficult it is to get out of the house and make the alumni wine and cheese mixer. So in anticipation of our First Annual Kids’ Digital Design Contest, Architect Mason Kirby Inc. (MArch '98) will be hosting a series of free educational webinars for kids and their parents to introduce the basics of 3D modeling using SketchUp (free to download for mac and PC, simple to learn, and amazingly difficult to put down). In the comfort of your own home, where there is probably plenty of cheese sticks and grape juice already,  we will plan to cover the basics of installing and using the SketchUp program to create and design in three dimensions.
A word about the our contest: The Kids' Digital Design Contest is aimed at providing a venue for kids to demonstrate, develop and reveal their capacity for creative three dimensional thinking using the digital modeling tool SketchUp to design a structure for living within an intertidal aquatic site. Age based judging ensures fair competition and lots of cool prizes from Google and the California Academy of Sciences. For more information please visit www.masonkirby.com/contest.
The webinars will be held right after dinner, but before bedtime on the following dates:
1) Thursday August 13, 2009 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm  Register at the following link: https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/252861563
